Belgium: Large police operation for drug trafficking

In progress is at Belgium an extensive police operation against organized crime, for which more than 1,500 police officers have been mobilized with the support of special forces across the country.

According to the Belgian-French radio and television network RTBF, the company is mainly targeting smugglers. drugs, particularly involved in cocaine smuggling, with international connections.

More than 200 surveys are being conducted simultaneously from 05:00 this morning. A spokesman for the federal prosecutor’s office told AFP, citing the APE-MPE, that it was “one of the largest operations ever organized on Belgian soil” in terms of the forces mobilized.

The operation is run by the federal prosecutor’s office and the Antwerp prosecutor’s office. A press conference for the company will be given on the morning of Wednesday 10 March.
