“This is a tangible result of the European Health Union”, underlined the Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Stella Kyriakidou, the website notes. Mrs. Kyriakidou points out that “thanks to the rapid reaction of the European Health Emergency Preparedness Authority (HERA), the first deliveries 3,040 vaccines against monkeypox arrived at Belgium for the protection of Belgian citizens and to deal with this epidemic”.
She adds that “through HERA, we have bought vaccines for all the member states that are in need. Within two weeks, we funded around 110,000 doses and started deliveries to the worst affected countries, including Spain, Germany, Portugal and Belgium. Additional deliveries will be made on next weeks».
As the Athens News Agency reports, almost 6,000 cases (5,949) have been identified in 33 countries across Europe, according to the latest figures from the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). In Belgium, they have been identified 168 casesaccording to the public health institute Sciensano.
