Belgium: Sixteen immigrants were arrested in a joint venture of Belgium, Britain and Italy

Sixteen people were arrested in Belgium, Britain and Italy as part of a large police operation coordinated by a Belgian judge, aiming for a network of Afghan immigrants. According to the Antwerp Public Prosecutor’s Office, this network is believed to have detached large sums of immigrants to take them to England from the Middle East via Turkey, following the Balkan path and then from the French or Belgian coasts. The suspects, described as members of “a criminal, Afghan organization” suggested their victims cross the Channel with cars, trucks or even small boats and communicated with them mainly through Tiktok. Eight of them were arrested in Belgium, mainly in Flanders, six in Britain and two in Italy, in businesses that were done at the same time yesterday, Wednesday, as part of a survey that had begun in October 2023 in Antwerp.
