Belo Horizonte Civil Defense issues alert for “geological risks” due to rains

The Civil Defense of Belo Horizonte, capital of Minas Gerais, issued this Friday (11) an alert of possible geological risks until next Tuesday (15) as a result of expected rains in the city.

“It is recommended to pay attention to the degree of soil saturation, constructive signs and care with falling walls, landslides and landslides”, says the report of the organ published on social networks, highlighting the “strong risk” for the regions of Venda Nova, Pampulha and the Northwest, West and Center-South of the Minas Gerais capital.

The rain showers could be a total of 20 to 40 millimeters “with lightning and gusts of wind around 50 km/h until 8 am on Saturday (12)”, they add.

Civil Defense recommendations include maximum attention to cracks in walls, water pooling in backyards, cracks in the ground and tilting of poles or trees, among others.

According to Climatempo, almost all of Brazil has conditions for rain showers during this Friday, but there is a forecast of a new episode of the South Atlantic Convergence Zone in the Southeast.
