Belo Horizonte wins Casa Fartura, a multipurpose gastronomic space in a listed mansion

THE mining capital has a new multipurpose space to call its own: on the corner of Rio de Janeiro and Tomás Gonzaga streets, in the Lourdes neighborhood, the Casa Fartura Usiminas enough to be a hub that brings together a kitchen, café, grocery store, atelier and bookstore under the pillar of gastronomy.

Scheduled to open this month, the enterprise occupies a tumbled house in the municipal sphere dating from the 1940s. It has two floors and the second floor is home to a studio for recording content and product launches.

The house becomes the headquarters of the Brazil abundance a platform that brings together content and gastronomic experiences, including festivals around the country, such as Tiradentes Culture and Gastronomy Festival, who turned 25 in 2022 .

The cradle of the project is Belo Horizonte, therefore, nothing fairer than a nucleus in the hometown itself. The house promotes, therefore, an identification with Minas Gerais, where the delicacies and products sold are all from Minas Gerais.

In addition to promoting dinners, classes, tastings and meetings in the functional kitchen with chefs from all over Brazil, Casa Fartura is a place to stop for a cheese bread, buy dulce de leche and drink soft drinks and local beers on a daily basis.

The functional corners of the place have partners, such as Mercearia, with shelves, right at the entrance of the mansion, with items from small producers selected in conjunction with the Paraopeba grocery store traditional Minas Gerais warehouse with shops in Itabirito and straps.

At the back of the first floor, Livraria Fartura has a selection of gastronomy editions available for sale under the curatorship of André Boccato journalist and curator of the São Paulo International Book Biennial.

O CNN Travel & Gastronomy visited the space firsthand at the end of August, and also noticed that a wine by the glass vending machine will be available to customers. By purchasing tokens, the diner simply chooses the wine – between reds, whites and rosé – and enjoys a shot of the drink.

The doors of the house are open most of the time during the day and night, and curious people passing through the neighborhood admire the facade and enter the mansion. This sense of informality should continue even after the official opening.

“The house is actually a big kitchen. The ingredients, the chefs, the producers, the stories… Everything of ours takes place in a kitchen, which is the best place in the house to receive who we love”, he explains in a statement. Carolina Daher curator of the Fartura project.
