Pleasure also has its… dark side, at least according to prosecutors. The glamorous founder of once-trendy sexual wellness empire OneTaste, Nicole Daedone, 56, and her former chief executive Rachel Cherwitz, 43, are set to go on trial next year accused of running a heresy, which forced sex workers and fans into debt.
The duo appeared in federal court in Brooklyn on Thursday, followed by a team and represented by lawyers, who receive $1,000 an hour in fees. There they were told that their trial (for criminal offences) would take place in 2025 and was likely to last a month.
They could face years in prison if convicted of the charges, and are also being sued in Manhattan federal court by a former employee who accuses them of sex-trafficking her to win OneTaste customers.
It's a steep fall for Daedone, who once spoke on stage at TedX Talks about the female orgasm while hanging out with Gwyneth Paltrow.
Paltrow's Goop website for its references to OneTaste, which was also endorsed by Khloe Kardashianraked in $12 million a year, according to court documents.
Under the guise of “sexual wellness,” OneTaste has built an empire by capitalizing on the female orgasm through “orgasmic meditation” (OM).

Daedone patented the technique, which involves a woman stripping from the waist down and then lying on a “nest of pillows” to have her genitals caressed. The thopeia is usually undertaken by a man, wearing a latex glove, and continues for exactly 15 minutes. Daedone claimed to have learned it from a Buddhist monk.
However, it was probably not all as innocent as it seemed. Some people's allegations of rape, sexual abuse and manipulation sparked the FBI investigation, which began in November 2018 and led to their arrest in June 2023. Now prosecutors say Daedone and Cherwitz took advantage of vulnerable consumers by promoting the company as a sexual trauma healing aid and then forced members into debt to pay for her classes. He is also accused of withholding wages from employees and subjecting them to “financial, sexual, emotional and psychological abuse, surveillance, indoctrination and intimidation”.

Since the FBI investigation began, OneTaste and the two women have spent $15 million in legal fees and sued Netflix, the BBC and a former member, according to New York Post.
OneTaste was founded in 2004 in San Francisco by Daedone, offering OM practice classes as “a way to make orgasm, connection and sensuality more sustainable.”
