Israel is currently undergoing discussions in order to create a demilitarized zone in southern Syria and a humanitarian corridor that will lead to a city in the area, most of which are Drouzes, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin said today. Netanyahu made this statement during his meeting with representatives of the Drussians in Israel, according to a video released by his office. He thus admitted for the first time clearly that he was discussing with the new Syrian authorities, though he did not name them. Syrian Agency Sana had reported that on August 19th, Foreign Minister Asad al -Simban met in Paris with an Israeli delegation and discussed issues about “enhancing stability in the region and southern Syria”. Israel had not confirmed these contacts. Israel and Syria have been theoretically at war for decades.
