The British company Bentley Motors has announced the release of 208 of its own NFTs based on the carbon-neutral Polygon blockchain.
The luxury auto brand will unveil its first limited edition Genesis NFT collection in September. For Bentley, the number 208 is symbolic, as it is the top speed of the company’s fastest Grand Tourer car (Continental GT Speed). In addition, “208” is the total number of iconic 1952-class R-Type Continental models produced.
Sales and Marketing Director Alain Favey says that Bentley customers are open to innovation, buying luxury goods with digital currency and creating business in the metaverse:
“We have always taken our clients to where they can discover the new potential of their passions. Today, this means being present in digital markets and offering non-fungible tokens. We have seen how NFTs have raised the profile of art and artists, and we believe the same can happen in luxury cars.”
The first Continental GT in Bentley’s history was bought with bitcoin in 2018.
