Germany will support Ukraine with one more package military aid amounting to 1.3 billion euros which will include an extra anti-aircraft system IRIS-T, the Minister of Defense said today in Kyiv Boris Pistorius. So far, Berlin has promised to supply Kiev with eight IRIS-T anti-aircraft systems, three of which have been shipped, as APE-MPE reports. Ukraine mainly uses them against Russian missile attacks.
The support package will also include 20,000 155mm artillery shells as well as anti-tank mines, Pistorius told reporters, flanked by his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umerov. “I’m sure this will help you in your fight against Russian aggression” he said. “This highlights that we are on the side of Ukraine essentially and reliable”.
The artillery shells come in addition to the 140,000 155mm shells that Germany has committed to deliver next year, Pistorius noted.
