The 2025 Berlin International Film Festival will feature two national productions. According to what was announced, the features “Night Act ” and “The Nature of Invisible Things ” were selected and will be at the event, which takes place from February 13th to 23rd, 2025.
Under the direction of Rafaela Camelo “The Nature of Invisible Things” follows the story of Glória (Laura Brandão ), a 10-year-old girl who needs to spend her holidays at the hospital where her mother (Larissa Mauro ) works as a nurse. During her stay, she meets Sofia (Serena ), who is convinced that her great-grandmother’s worsening health is linked to her admission to the hospital.
Despite the differences, a strong friendship is born between the two, offering comfort as they face the challenges and pains of this period together. The film will be shown in the section generation an exhibition dedicated to productions aimed at children and young people, which presents stories from the perspective of children and young people, at the Berlinale.
The second film is “Ato Noturno”, by Marcio Reolon and Filipe Matzembacher which was selected for the exhibition Panorama .
Starring Gabriel Faryas the film is an erotic thriller that follows Matias, a young actor looking for his big chance at stardom in Porto Alegre. Part of a respected theater group, he faces a growing rivalry with his flatmate, Fabio (Henrique Barreira ), especially after the news that a major series will be filmed in the city.
To get the role of heartthrob, Matias needs to hide his true identity and adapt to gender expectations. However, her involvement with Rafael (Cirillo Luna ), a politician who also lives under masks, makes this choice increasingly challenging and conflicting.
Both titles will be distributed in Brazil by Showcase Films but they do not yet have a release date on the commercial circuit. In 2025, the Berlin Festival will have director Todd Haynes as president of the jury.
