Berlin regrets blocking of DW’s website in Turkey

The German government has learned “with regret” of the blocking of online access to Deutsche Welle and Voice of America programming in Turkey, government spokesman Steffen Hempstreit said, stressing Berlin’s concern about the state of press freedom and expression in Turkey. Turkey.

According to German public broadcaster ARD’s first channel, Turkey’s Radio Regulatory Authority (RTÜK) has blocked access to Deutsche Welle and Voice of America in Turkey, claiming that the two services had not submitted the required license application.
