Berlin: the spin-off of the Paper House arrives on Netflix

We knew Netflix wasn’t going to give up on one of the platform’s few recognizable franchises so easily, and we were right. And so, a few days after the release of the second and last part of the fifth and final season of The House of Paper, Netflix goes ahead and announces the start of production of a spin-off dedicated to one of the most popular characters of the series: Berlin. Rumors had been circulating for some time about possible cross-overs of the most famous Spanish series in the world and the choice to start with such an iconic mask that hovered over the House of Paper even many years after his death, at least on paper, he is more than successful.

Berlin, defined as a “cruel, heroic, and funny at the same time” character, should see the light on Netflix in 2023, while the actor Pedro Alonso, also engaged in the promotion of this last season of The House of Paper, has always said he is inclined to the idea of keeping alive such an iconic role as that of Berlin: «We are at the end of a cycle, and now another one is beginning. Berlin is a character who has given a lot and continuing to play him is a burden and a responsibility, but I hope the writers continue to take risks with him. The emotion when these things happen can only be a positive thing, it makes you tremble and feel as alive as when you are on the edge of a precipice, ”said the actor.

Berlin in The House of Paper

It is clear that Netflix intends to strike while the iron is hot as well as HBO chose to do with the franchise. Game of Thrones, which will continue in the highly anticipated spin-off House of the Dragon, set two hundred years before the events of the original series which, even today, continues to be the most followed in the history of the network. The hope, of course, is that fans will still be able to show affection for the series by ensuring the platform a return of image and views, and something tells us that Berlin will succeed.
