Apart from the television empire, the Monza team and the insurance companies, Mr Silvio Berlusconi he also had another “property”. These are over twenty-five thousand paintings that the Cavaliere had bought in recent years, mostly from local TV channels with shows where works of art are sold or by dealers.
According to the newspaper La Repubblica and the techno critic and politician Vittorio Sgarbi, “the pieces that might be of some interest are six or seven, no more.” The remaining tables (many depict Mr. Tivy himself, others Italian cityscapes or female figures) have essentially no special value. But the issue, according to the newspaper, is that for the safekeeping of these “works”, Berlusconi had rented a huge warehouse near his villa outside Milan, for 800 thousand euros a year.
His four children are said to be determined to stop paying the specific amount since several projects, according to information, have already been destroyed by the moth. “According to witnesses, from the area where the warehouse is located, a cloud of smoke recently rose into the sky. The Berlusconi family, however, neither confirms nor denies that the paintings may have been burned,” writes La Repubblica.
It remains to be seen what will be done with this 4,500 square meter warehouse, if the children of the Italian former prime minister and businessman (who passed away last June) will decide to save at least some of the works in this special “collection” and if the rest are actually going to be destroyed or even donated.
