Bernard Tapie: The bruises and the red eye after the violent robbery – Who is the tycoon

French tycoon and former Adidas boss Bernard Tati and his wife fall savage robbers at their home near Paris on Saturday night to Sunday and now the light of publicity they see photos of themselves with bruises on the face.

The perpetrators tied the couple with electrical wires, attacked them and stole their jewelry. Bernard Tapie, 78, who has been a minister for a short time, is a controversial figure, according to the BBC.

He has been at the center of legal disputes related to corruption and fraud for decades and has spent some time in prison.

Tapi and his wife, Dominic, 70, were asleep when four men escaped from security men and broke into the house shortly after midnight on Sunday.

The perpetrators pulled Ms. Tapi by the hair to find out “where the treasure is,” Combs-La-Ville Mayor Guy Geoffroy told AFP. “But of course they did not find any treasure and that made things worse, resulting in violence.”

Tapi was hit on the head with a cane while sitting in a chair. His wife managed to free herself and ran to a neighbor’s house, from where she called the police. She has facial injuries, as she was beaten several times, and was taken to hospital. THE Bernard Tapie refused to go to the hospital.

The perpetrators allegedly robbed two watches, including a Rolex, bracelets, earrings and a ring.

Who is Bernard Tapie?

He served as Minister of Urban Development in the period 1992-93. He had a majority stake in the sportswear company Adidas, owned the Olympic de Marseiile football team.

During his presidency, the team won the championship, only to be accused of match-fixing and stripped of its title.

Tapi owned various media, while he has also been involved in acting, singing and presenting TV shows.

He filed for bankruptcy in the 1990s and spent five months in prison after being convicted of corruption, tax evasion and misuse of business property.
