With the arrival of December, it is now possible to see and hear Mariah Carey singing her famous Christmas song “All I Want for Christmas Is You” everywhere.

It is possible that Mariah Carey is currently the biggest pop diva of Christmas. Despite this, many other mainstream singers have already released releases for Santa Claus (or Santa Claus, in English). Check out 15 of them below.

Kelly Clarkson

Underneath the Tree ” is the first single from Kelly Clarkson’s sixth studio album, “Wrapped in Red”, all Christmas themed and released in 2013 by RCA Records.

The song was written by her and producer Greg Kurstin and talks about gratitude for companionship, treating a loved one as the only gift needed “under the tree” at Christmas.

Apparently, Kelly Clarkson liked singing about Christmas and, in 2021, she released her ninth studio album and second with a Christmas theme: “When Christmas Comes Around…”, on the Atlantico record label.

The second single from this album is sung as a duet with Ariana Grande and was written by Kelly and Aben Eubanks: “Santa, Can’t You Hear Me“.

The song’s lyrics are an appeal to Santa Claus. Instead of material gifts, the singers ask for answers on how they can fulfill their biggest Christmas wish: love.

Ariana Grande

Before launching her partnership with Kelly Clarkson, Ariana Grande had already written her own Christmas song in 2014: “Santa Tell Me “.

Written by Ariana in partnership with Ilya and Savan Kotecha Salmanzadeh, the lyrics talk about love at Christmas and ask Santa Claus to only let her fall in love if his love continues with her until at least December 25th.

Without a music video, Lady Gaga’s Christmas song was released in December 2008, the singer’s first year of success.

The song was written and produced by Gaga herself in partnership with Martin Kierszenbaum and Space Cowboy, who also puts her vocals on the song.

Britney Spears

At the height of the news, after the release of her autobiographical book “The Woman in Me”, Britney Spears, the “little princess of pop”, also has her Christmas song.

My Only Wish (This Year) ” is a teen pop song released in 2000 as part of a Christmas compilation album featuring several artists, including Whitney Houston and Christina Aguilera (see below).

Written and produced by Brian Kierulf and Josh Schwartz, the lyrics ask Santa Claus to give him a lover as a gift: “He’s everything I want for me under the Christmas tree.”

The song was also included later, in 2003, on a Christmas album released by Whitney Houston: “One Wish: The Holiday Album”.

Christina Aguilera

In November 2022, American singer and rapper Lizzo covered “Someday at Christmas “, by Stevie Wonder, exclusively for Amazon Music.

The singer said she chose the song “not just because it’s a classic, but because it’s a reminder that almost 60 years later, we’re still fighting for peace, compassion and equality.”

In December of the same year, Lizzo sang her version on Saturday Night Live (video below). Her version reached number 59 on the Billboard Hot 100, surpassing Wonder’s original.

Cher

One of the last “Christmas” releases was that of 77-year-old pop diva Cher.

On October 20, she released the Christmas album “Christmas” and, subsequently, chose as her first and main single the song “DJ Play a Christmas Song “. The song has almost no traditional Christmas references in its sound.

With electronic beats from the 1990s and Cher’s robotic voice, the lyrics (written by Sarah Hudson, Jessie Saint John, Brett McLaughlin, James Abrahart, Mark Schick and Lionel Crasta), talk about someone who goes out clubbing on the night of Christmas and that, as her only wish, she wants to dance all night as an escape from her problems.
