Bethesda has officially become part of the Xbox

A few days after receiving regulatory approvals from the US and the European Union, Microsoft and ZeniMax Media completed the $ 7.5 billion acquisition by the software giant of parent company Bethesda Softworks. Bethesda officially became part of the Xbox today, March 9th.

Together with Bethesda, eight more studios have joined Microsoft and Xbox Game Studios, including id Software, Arcane and MachineGames. It is not yet known which games created by these studios will become Xbox and PC exclusives, but the head of the Xbox Phil Spencer has already confirmed that some projects will definitely not be available on PlayStation, Switch and other platforms.

When Xbox and Bethesda announced the deal, they confirmed they would honor previous agreements with Sony. Deathloop and GhostWire: Tokyo will remain temporary PlayStation 5 exclusives. Future games may be released on platforms other than Xbox or PC, but companies will make decisions on this on a case-by-case basis. Bethesda is currently working on The Elder Scrolls VI and a new franchise called Starfield.

Phil Spencer also noted that in the near future Xbox will talk in more detail about what its new studios are working on. Microsoft is rumored to be holding an event this week to discuss plans with ZeniMax Media. The main focus will presumably be on the Xbox Game Pass service and filling it with Bethesda games.
