Between the 1950s and 1960s, Brazil saw an increase in people registered under the name “Elizabeth” after the coronation of the UK monarch.
Data from the 2010 Census by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) show the peak of records in the country. The British queen, who died on Thursday, was crowned in 1952.
According to a survey carried out by the Notary College of Brazil at the request of the CNN , the name “Elizabeth” has already been registered by 56,051 people. The highlight in 1952 was São Paulo with 731 records, then Minas Gerais, with 198.
Analysis of the survey by Colégio Notorial do Brasil points out that the 1950s and 1960s registered 12,221 and 12,383 people with the name “Elizabeth”, respectively.
