Beyond the ice: expert raises hypotheses for plane crash in Vinhedo

Flight safety expert Roberto Peterka raised new hypotheses about the plane crash that occurred last Friday (9) in Vinhedo, in the interior of São Paulo, involving a Voepass plane. In an interview with CNN Peterka expanded the possibilities beyond the ice formation on the wingswhich has been widely discussed.

According to the expert, other potential causes include maintenance problems, pilot disorientation or failure of critical instruments.

“There are many possibilities. It could be a maintenance problem, a possible disorientation of the pilots, which is not very likely because they are experienced pilots, or a failure in some instrument that indicated the condition of the plane at that moment,” explained Peterka.

Black box analysis

Peterka stressed the importance of analyzing the plane’s black boxes to clarify what happened. He stressed that synchronizing information from the cockpit voice recorder, flight data and air traffic control will be crucial to understanding the sequence of events that led to the crash.

“You have two black boxes that need, above all, to be synchronized with air traffic control,” said the expert, highlighting the complexity of the investigation process.
