Our event promotes a connection between people, the rescue of stories, family recipes and stimulates creativity. Furthermore, it is a great opportunity to continue developing the cultural connection between the hill and the asphalt, always in line with community leaders”, explains the creator of the Circuit and director of Casulo Cultura, Danusa Carvalho.
Solidarity Kitchen – ABC Favelas
According to Danusa Carvalho, in addition to empowering peripheral cooks, the Favela Gastronomic Circuit aims to take structured events into communities, respecting the territory and its leaders.
Since 2017, 12 communities have hosted the event, with two editions being held virtually during the pandemic. “In each community where the event is held, involvement with the community is essential. We always look for the leaders of the local association and involve them”, he highlights. The creator also mentions the opening of the Brazilian Association of Cooks – ABC Favelas , founded by cooks from various communities and who together will build Cozinha Solidária. “Today, we are in the process of raising funds to build an industrial kitchen that was donated to the association. The idea is that, in 2024, the project will move forward.
There is a movement to seek partners to install the Solidarity Kitchen, a place where a professional social school for peripheral cooks will be established, offering teaching from how to prepare a dish, to pricing, conservation and distribution in various sectors of gastronomy, such as buffet, coffee break, frozen, gourmet service, etc.”, he adds.
