The Civil Police of Minas Gerais carried out an operation on fireworks stores in Belo Horizonte last Wednesday (9). The suspicion is that the establishments sold the artifacts for the event that caused the fire in the forest in the Buritis neighborhood on September 29th.

The objective of the operation was to identify the fireworks used by the company responsible for the show and verify the licenses and requirements necessary for the operation and storage of dangerous substances.

According to the police, the first establishment inspected did not have a registration certificate for the sale of pyrotechnic items and some products did not have a technical manager indicated. The materials were seized.

In addition, several irregularities were found, including the absence of an operating license from the city hall, a license from the Ammunition, Weapons and Explosives Police Station (Deame) and the Fire Department Inspection Report (AVCB).

A 65-year-old woman and a 55-year-old man, owners of the establishment, were arrested for storing and selling dangerous products in violation of current legislation. The expected penalty is four years in prison. Commercial activities were suspended by the Army with a period of 90 days for the products to be properly disposed of. The inspection bodies also imposed fines.

In the second establishment, expired fireworks without specification of origin or technical person were seized. Documentary irregularities were also found.

An investigation was launched by the Civil Police to investigate the environmental crime of illegal storage of dangerous substances, in addition to the crime against consumer relations, for exposing merchandise for sale unsuitable for consumption, which provides for a sentence of two to five years in prison and a fine. .
