Bianca Balti: “When my daughter decided to live with her father because I was on drugs”

A difficult moment, perhaps among the hardest of his life: Bianca Balti he told it without filters, guest of Luca Casadei’s podcast One More Time. The facts date back to the beginning of her career, when at a very young age she began to walk the catwalk for the most important fashion brands. It was at that time that she met the photographer Christian Lucidi, his first great love.

“I got pregnant after just three weeks. After a month she asks me to marry him », says Balti. From that love in 2007 the daughter was born Matilda, now fifteen. “I got carried away with enthusiasm, but the truth is that he was very possessive and nagging. It wasn’t a healthy relationship. In those years I lived everything from day to day, I decided to be a mother and wife a year and a half into my career. Crazy thing.”

The story with Lucidi ended shortly after and Balti returned from New York to live in Italy with the child. “I’m starting over with the holidays. I left my daughter with her grandparents in Lodi and I went from man to man, going through drugs. It was a dysfunctional life, I wasn’t happy, but I’m only realizing it now. I spent three years like this.”

Then the transfer to Marbella and meeting with Matthew McRae, father of the second child, My. The marriage, celebrated in 2017, lasted only a few months. “I ask the Spanish court for permission to take my daughter with me to America, but they refuse it,” continued Bianca Balti during the podcast. «My lawyer tells me:“ Look, they will ask her where she wants to live, whether with you or with her father ”. So I ask him and Matilde answers me: “with dad”. Has been one of the worst moments of my life. It hurt me so much. I hadn’t been on drugs for three years already, but I figured out that Matilde wasn’t ready to forgive me. Now we have a great relationship and he tells me that he didn’t want to live with me because i was a mess. At the time, however, it was very hard to understand that, beyond the efforts I had made to change, iThe harm I had done to her had led her to make this choice». An important decision for a little girl, yet a firm one.

Today those days are in the distant past and mom and daughter are very close. They spend a lot of time together, as told by the images that Bianca often publishes on social networks, even if Matilde always lives with her father in Paris. Bianca, on the other hand, has chosen California, and has her second child with him, 7 years old.

Time helps to grow, and in some cases cures. It was undoubtedly like this for them.
