Biden arrives in Japan to launch regional economic plan in opposition to China

The American President, Joe Biden Arrived to Japan this Sunday (22) to launch an economic plan that provides for greater US participation in the Indo-Pacific and that is being criticized even before being announced because it will offer few benefits to countries in the region.

In the second part of his first trip to Asia as president, Biden is due to meet with leaders from Japan, India and Australia, “The Quad”, another pillar of his strategy to react to the growing influence of the China .

Biden met with Japanese business leaders, including the president of Toyota Motor at the ambassador’s Tokyo residence shortly after arriving, said a person with knowledge of the matter.

On Monday, he is due to call Japanese Emperor Naruhito before speaking with the country’s prime minister, Fumio Kishida. He and Kishida are expected to discuss Japan’s plans to expand its army’s capabilities and reach in response to China’s growing power.

The same day he arrived in Japan, Biden was the target of a protest by Japanese, who criticized the United States and Japan and accused them of uniting to start a war with China.

The United States’ objective is to strengthen defense and trade ties with the countries that make up the Quad, including the presentation of a proposal for an agreement to intensify economic relations between nations.
