Biden asked Starmer if “football is coming home” in their meeting in the Oval Office

Joe Biden welcomed the new Prime Minister of Britain, Keir Starmer, to his Oval Office on Thursday morning (Greece time) as part of the NATO Summit. The two leaders discussed football, the NATO alliance and the “special relationship” of the two countries. When President Biden welcomed Starmer to the White House, he asked him, “Is football coming home?” on the occasion of the qualification of the England national team to Euro 2024 with him responding “It seems so”. Biden said the two countries are “perhaps the best allies in the world.” “I see you as the knot that binds the transatlantic alliance,” he added. “We really need to work together and there are a lot of things we can talk about,” he continued.
