Biden calls Pope Francis and Netanyahu to talk about the conflict in the Middle East

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, spoke with Pope Francis and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu this Sunday (22), in two separate calls to talk about events in Israel and the Gaza Strip.

In his discussion with the pontiff, Biden condemned the Hamas attack and discussed its efforts to provide humanitarian assistance to Gaza.

The two “discussed the need to avoid escalation in the region and to work towards lasting peace in the Middle East”, according to the reading of their appeal.

The White House is expected to send information soon about the president’s call with Netanyahu.

Biden and US Vice President Kamala Harris also received a statement this Sunday morning from their national security team on the latest developments in Gaza.
