Biden campaign has raised $27 million since the debate

President Joe Biden’s campaign raised more than $27 million on Thursday, the day of the first presidential debate, and Friday, according to a campaign official.

The campaign seeks to highlight the positives of the fundraising even as angst grows among some members of the donor class following the president’s poor debate performance from CNN.

The president is expected to speak at two fundraising events in the Hamptons, New York, and one in Red Bank, New Jersey, this Saturday afternoon (29).

Barry Rosenstein, the host of one of the fundraisers in the Hamptons, told CNN who expects more than 200 attendees and said more donations for the event arrived Friday morning after the debate.

The two-day fundraiser announced Saturday comes on the heels of Biden raising about $40 million in five days earlier this month, which included major fundraisers with former President Barack Obama in Los Angeles and former President Bill Clinton in Virginia.

Trump closing the gap : Even before his shaky debate performance, Biden was facing a major fundraising test at the end of the month, after raising $85 million between his campaign and joint Democratic fundraising committees in May.

Donald Trump raised $141 million that same month, eroding the financial advantage Biden had enjoyed for most of the election cycle.
