Biden condemns Ukraine attacks, says he will continue to ‘impose costs’ on Russia

US President Joe Biden said the Russian missile attacks that hit Kiev and other Ukrainian cities on Monday “demonstrate once again the sheer brutality of Putin’s illegal war against the Ukrainian people”.

“These attacks only further reinforce our commitment to stand with the people of Ukraine for as long as necessary,” Biden wrote in a statement on Monday. “Together with our allies and partners, we will continue to impose costs on Russia for its aggression, hold Putin and Russia accountable for their atrocities and war crimes, and provide the necessary support for Ukrainian forces to defend their country and freedom.”

“We again call on Russia to end this unprovoked aggression immediately and withdraw its troops from Ukraine,” Biden said.

The president is expected to attend a call with G7 leaders on Tuesday, where Ukrainian President Zelensky is expected to address the group.
