Biden decree to speed up military aid to Ukraine

US President Joe Biden today signed a decree in front of journalists to speed up the delivery of military equipment to Ukraine, activating a mechanism dating back to World War II.

“Ukrainians are fighting for their own lives every day,” he said.

“It’s based on a World War II program aimed at helping Europe resist Hitler,” the White House said, noting that it was supported by almost all members of Congress, with the exception of 10 members of the House of Representatives who voted against it. He does not fail to recall that the mechanism was activated on the day of the celebration by Russia of the anniversary of the victory of the Red Army over Nazi Germany in 1945.

Since the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on February 24, the Biden government has strengthened Kyiv with $ 3.8 billion in military aid. The previous package announced was $ 800 million.

Putin’s speech is historical revisionism

The White House today called Vladimir Putin’s “Victory Day” speech against Nazi Germany “historic revisionism,” adding that the Russian president’s claim that Western aggression had led to the war in Ukraine was “blatantly absurd.”

Speaking to reporters, White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Putin’s speech was “a historical revisionism that has taken the form of misinformation.”
