US President Joe Biden praised the “remarkable courage” of the George Floyd family, who died a year ago under the knee of a white police officer in Minneapolis.
“The Floyd family has shown remarkable courage, especially their daughter Gianna,” Biden said in a statement after meeting with members of the African-American family at the Oval Office.
“On the eve of her father’s funeral, a year ago, Jill and I met the family and she (Gianna) told me, ‘My dad changed the world,'” she continued. “He did it,” he added.
Following a meeting with the US president, the Floyd family called on the US Congress to approve an expanded police reform bill aimed at “protecting people of color.”
