US President Joe Biden said today that his country will continue its close cooperation with the United Kingdom, notably on the issue of Ukraine, in a statement released after the resignation of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. In the announcement of the White House, however, there is absolutely no mention of Johnson.
“The United Kingdom and the United States are close friends and allies, and the special relationship between our peoples is strong and unbroken,” Biden said.
“I look forward to continuing to work closely with the UK Government as well as our allies and partners around the world on a number of priority issues. These include maintaining a unified and strong approach to supporting the Ukrainian people which is defending itself against Putin’s brutal war against his democracy, as well as holding Russia accountable for its actions,” he added.
