Biden laments 900,000 deaths from Covid in the US and asks the population to get vaccinated

The President of the United States, Joe Biden, lamented the 900,000 deaths from Covid-19 in the country, recorded on Friday (4), and highlighted the importance of vaccination to stop the virus.

In a White House statement, Biden said the nation had reached another tragic milestone with the loss of American lives.

“They were beloved mothers and fathers, grandparents, children, brothers and sisters, neighbors and friends. Every soul is irreplaceable. We pray for the loved ones they left behind and together we hold all the families who endure this pain in our hearts.”

Biden added that “vaccines and boosters have proven to be incredibly effective and offer the highest level of protection.”

Yesterday the country had 122,627 people hospitalized with coronavirus, according to data from the US Department of Health and Human Services.

In the White House text, the President of the United States wrote that, after almost two years, he knows that the emotional, physical and psychological burden of the pandemic has been incredibly difficult to bear.

“I know what it’s like to look at an empty chair around the kitchen table. But I also know that we carry an incredible capacity within ourselves — not just to get through our grief, but to come together to protect each other.”

He also made an appeal to American citizens asking for adherence to vaccination.

“We can save even more lives – and spare countless families the deepest pain imaginable – if everyone does their part. I urge all Americans: vaccinate yourself, vaccinate your children and get your booster shot if you are eligible. It’s free, easy and effective — and it can save your life and the lives of those you love,” he wrote.
