Outgoing US President Joe Biden has preemptively pardoned five members of his family, saying he wanted to prevent them from being targeted in “baseless and politically motivated investigations”. On the list are his two brothers, James and Francis, James’ wife Sarah, Biden’s sister Valerie and her husband John. “My family has been targeted by endless attacks and threats, motivated solely by a desire to harm me – this is the worst kind of party politics.
