The meeting of US and Russian Presidents Joe Biden and Vladimir Putin is likely to be held in Geneva. This was announced by NBC correspondent Jeff Bennett on his Twitter.
According to the journalist, this information was announced at once by four sources in the US presidential administration.
“Geneva, Switzerland, is the most likely location for a potential meeting between Biden and Putin, four administration sources tell NBC News,” Bennett said.
He also recalled that Biden had previously said that he “hopes and expects” to meet with Putin during his planned visit to Europe in June.
- On April 13, 2021, Biden called Putin and called for an easing of tensions on the borders with Ukraine. He also suggested that Putin meet “in a third country” to talk.
- On April 15, Biden signed a decree imposing new sanctions against Russia. Among other things, the decree also referred to the expulsion of ten Russian diplomats from the United States.
- The Russian Federation took retaliatory measures and decided to expel ten American diplomats from the country.
- Western media, citing their own sources, predict that at the Putin-Biden summit, Russia will have more military personnel than diplomats.
