Biden – Putin: US urges Moscow to stop cyber-attack hackers

On Friday (9/7) he had a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Joe Biden. The US president has called on Vladimir Putin to take action to stop Russian-based hackers launching lyrical attacks on US companies and infrastructure.

“President Biden emphasized the need for Russia to take action to dismantle these groups operating in Russia.”, the White House said. He added that he was committed to continuing his fight against the wider threat posed by these attacks.

Russian President Dmitry Peshkov’s spokesman confirmed to TASS that Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with US President Joe Biden.

A White House spokeswoman, speaking on condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to speak to the media, said the US government had no new information that the Russian government was directing the attacks, but insisted that Moscow take action to stop them.

The threat of cyberattacks will be at the center of Biden’s talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel next week., who will visit the White House on July 15.
