Biden: Russian invasion of Ukraine ‘possible’ – US and NATO not a threat to Russia

US President Joe Biden described a Russian invasion of Ukraine as “very likely” in a speech on Tuesday night.

Biden said there were “real ways” the international community could allay Russia’s security concerns, and that “diplomacy should have every chance of success.”

At the same time, he clarified that the US is proposing to Russia new arms controls and other related measures.

Responding to Russia’s allegations and echoing a comment by the US ambassador to the EU, Biden said the US had no information yet on the withdrawal of Russian troops from the border with Ukraine.

Addressing Russia, Biden reiterated that the United States and NATO are not a threat to Russia, said that neither the United States nor NATO has missiles in Ukraine and does not intend to deploy on Ukrainian soil, and stressed that the United States has no goal. to hurt Russian citizens or stability.

“We are not the enemy,” he told Russian citizens.

He also commented that if Russia invades Ukraine the cost of human lives will be unimaginably high, while he commented that Russia has neither cause nor justification for such an invasion.

As for NATO, the US president stressed that it is stronger than ever, while threatening that if Russia invades Ukrainian territory they will impose “strong sanctions and export control”.
