United States President Joe Biden signed an interim bill to avoid a shutdown of the country’s government. The measure comes just moments before the deadline for funding for federal agencies to end.
“I just signed a law to keep the government open [funcional] for 47 days. There is plenty of time to pass government funding bills for the next fiscal year, and I strongly urge Congress to get to work immediately,” Biden said in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“The American people expect their government to work. Let’s make sure that happens,” she added. In the publication there is also a photo of the moment he signed the project.
The Senate approved the measure on Saturday night (30), after the House approved, earlier in the day, a bipartisan bill to extend government funding, after days of uncertainty over whether they could reach an agreement to avoid the stoppage.
With the measure signed by Biden, the government could still suffer from the shutdown on November 17th. The project includes funding for natural disasters, but not to finance aid to Ukraine, for example.
