Biden says Congress’s rejection of aid to Ukraine would give Putin “the greatest Christmas present”

United States President Joe Biden said this Tuesday (12) that if the American Congress does not approve the aid package for Ukraine and Israel, it will give Russian President Vladimir Putin “the greatest Christmas present” .

“Congress needs to approve supplemental funding for Ukraine before the holiday break, before they give Putin the biggest Christmas gift they could give him,” Biden said in the Oval Office alongside Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The American head of state also announced another US$200 million in looting funds for Ukraine. Zelensky met with Biden after he met lawmakers on Capitol Hill to advocate for more aid to Ukraine.

This is Zelensky’s third trip to Washington since the start of the war. In September, he also went to the US and met with Biden in the Oval Office.

On that other visit, Biden told Zelensky: “It’s great to be by your side once again, we’ll be by your side.”
