US President Biden said today that his government is ready to protect the right to abortion, commenting on the leak to the press of a draft decision of the Supreme Court, which is said to overturn it.
The American president also pointed out that he does not know that the draft decision that was leaked is genuine or even final.
“I believe that women’s right to vote is fundamental,” said Joe Biden, adding that if “Roe v. Wade” of 1973, which legalizes abortion, was overturned, elected officials would have to protect women’s rights. and voters will have to select candidates in favor of the right to abortion in November.
It is noted that for the time being the authenticity of the draft decision of the US Supreme Court, which was published by Politico yesterday, Monday, has not been confirmed. For its part, the Supreme Court declined to comment.
In a copy of the ruling, however, dated February 10, 2022, Conservative Judge Samuel Alito stated in a draft opinion that the bill legalizing abortion “was terribly wrong from the beginning.”
Based on Alito’s opinion, the court found that the “Roe v. Wade” decision authorizing abortions was unconstitutional as the Constitution does not make specific reference to abortion rights.
