Biden speaks out after special counsel report on documents

In his first public comment following the release of the special counsel report that investigated the handling of confidential documents, President Joe Biden reiterated on Thursday (8) that the report decided not to move forward with any criminal charges.

“The bottom line is that the special counsel on my case has decided not to pursue any charges,” Biden said at the House Democratic Caucus Issues Conference in Leesburg, Virginia.

He declared the matter of the handling of his confidential documents “closed” and said he was “pleased to see that they have reached the conclusion…no charges should be laid in this case.”

The president also mentioned how he was interviewed shortly after the October 7 attack on Israel, appearing to ignore memory lapses during his interview that were mentioned in the report.

He also focused on the report, making “clear the stark differences between this case and Donald Trump.” He said the special counsel noted that although he returned the documents “to avoid prosecution and allegedly, Mr. Trump did the opposite.”
