The White House demanded that Israel ensure the safety of journalists after an Israeli military airstrike on a building in the Gaza Strip, where the offices of the media were located. This was announced on Twitter by the press secretary of the US President Jennifer Psaki.
“We have told the Israelis directly that ensuring the safety of journalists and independent media is a top priority,” Psaki wrote.
US President Joe Biden held a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, The Times of Israel reports, citing the press service of the Israeli government.
According to reporters, Netanyahu told Biden about Israel’s operations in the Gaza Strip and the steps to be taken.
Netanyahu thanked Biden for supporting Israel’s right to self-defense. Israel is doing everything to avoid civilian casualties, Netanyahu assured the American president, and stressed that residents of buildings that are being hit by the IDF are given time to evacuate.
