The United States will not send troops to Ukraine, US President Joe Biden said on Friday.
“I want to be clear: We will defend every inch of NATO territory with the full force of a united NATO,” the US president wrote on Twitter. “But we will not wage war against Russia in Ukraine. A direct confrontation between NATO and Russia would mean World War III.”
Biden has repeatedly said that sending US troops to engage directly with Russia is out of the question.
I want to be clear: We will defend every inch of NATO territory with the full might of a united and galvanized NATO.
But we will not fight a war against Russia in Ukraine.
A direct confrontation between NATO and Russia is World War III. And something we must strive to prevent.

He hoped to break European resolve.
He hoped to weaken the transatlantic alliance.
He hoped to divide America.
It failed. ”
