Biden urges American women to ‘vote en masse’ in the November election

US President Joe Biden today urged women to vote in November’s midterm elections, stressing that the fastest way to overturn the Supreme Court’s decision on abortion rights is to have a strong Democratic majority in Congress to pass it. a law to codify such rights.

“This is the fastest way available,” he told reporters at the White House. “I hope and believe that women will turn out en masse (to the elections) to regain the rights that were taken away from them by the Court,” he added.

We cannot allow an “out of control” Supreme Court to curtail freedoms, Biden explained. The US president has signed a limited executive order aimed at limiting the fallout from the Supreme Court’s historic decision by a conservative majority that overturned the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling on abortion. The order directs the Department of Health and Human Services to take action to protect and expand women’s access to “medical termination of pregnancy” approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), according to the White House.

The ministry should also ensure that women have access to emergency medical care, family planning services and contraceptives.

Biden warned that if Republicans win the November election and capture a majority in Congress, they have said they will try to pass a law that would ban abortion at the federal level. But he added that he himself will exercise a veto if such a thing happens. He also expressed fear that the Supreme Court’s decision jeopardizes a number of other freedoms, such as marriage for all, access to contraception and others.
