Biden wants three-day ceasefire in Gaza and longer pause for hostage release

The American president Joe Biden told reporters today that he has requested a three-day pause in Gauze and a pause longer than that in order to free the hostages held by the Hamas.

Biden also stated that The United States will strike again if necessary against targets linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corpsthe elite body of the Iranian military, and organizations associated with it, after the US military struck a building in Syria, and after the wave of attacks against US and anti-jihadist coalition troops in Syria and Iraq.

The American president also ruled that it does not exist ‘no chance’ of ceasefire in Gaza. Asked if he believed there was any chance of a ceasefire, the Democratic president, who has so far opposed that version, said: “No, no chance”.

The White House announced a four-hour ceasefire in Northern Gaza

Israel will begin four-hour pauses in northern Gaza starting today so that the world can escape hostilities, the White House said today, a step in the right direction as he described it.

White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said the pauses emerged after discussions between US and Israeli officials in recent days, including talks US President Joe Biden had with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Kirby said so pauses will allow the world to stay out of harm’s way and humanitarian aid to be distributed and may be used as a way to free hostages.

“We were told by the Israelis today that there will be no military operations in these areas during the pause, and that process begins today,” Kirby said. “We understand that Israel will begin implementing a four-hour ceasefire in northern Gaza with the announcement being made three hours before“, he said.

He called the news a step in the right direction. “We think so these are important first steps and obviously we want to see them continue for as long as necessary,” he added.

Kirby also said a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas fighters is off the table because it would help Hamas and “legitimize what they did on October 7th, and we’re just not going to support that at this time.”
