THE Joe Biden will ask the Americans to change eating habits and is expected to announce at a summit on the diet which will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, that it is time for the US to end the food insecurity and to “hit” her problem at the same time obesity in the country, which is still growing.
The American president will speak at the session entitled “hunger, nutrition and health” and is being held at the White House, bringing together government and agency officials as well as academic experts to promote a healthier America, according to a senior official.
According to the White House, the goal of this session will be “to end hunger and reduce diet-related diseases in the United States by 2030.”
It’s an “ambitious but achievable” goal that will require presidential orders as well as congressional approval, according to the senior official, who asked not to be identified.
“The US has not yet eradicated hunger and is still facing it emergency food-related health crisis’ and this here and at least 50 years after a similar conference organized by Richard Nixonaccording to the White House.
The country, as reported by APE-MPE, is facing increasing incidence of diet-related diseases; such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, hypertension and some forms of cancer.
“The consequences of food insecurity and diet-related diseases are severe and widespread, disproportionately affecting underprivileged populations,” the White House emphasized in its announcement.
“There is no magic formula to overcome these complex problems,” the White House adds, pointing out, however, that many of these diseases are preventable.
