US President Joe Biden plans to speak with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday, a White House official said a day after talks with Russian leader Vladimir Putin focused on easing tensions on the border.
“President Biden plans to hold telephone talks with Ukrainian President Zelensky on Sunday to reaffirm US support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, to discuss increasing Russia’s military presence on the border with Ukraine, but also to “Discuss preparations for the upcoming diplomatic contacts in order to de-escalate the situation in the region,” the White House official said.
The talks, which will take place on January 10 in Geneva with US Secretary of State Wendy Sherman and Russian counterpart Sergei Ryabkov, will be followed by a NATO-Russia Council meeting on January 12 and a panel discussion on January 13. of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
