Biden’s abrupt exit from White House event – ‘I have to go to the crisis room’

The president of the USA Joe Biden abruptly ended a rare press briefing and told reporters he needed to go to the crisis room immediately. “I apologize, I have to go to the crisis room on another matter. Thank you,” he said.

Mr Biden apologized for having to leave a White House event to promote his economic agenda ahead of the 2021 presidential election, saying he needed to go to the crisis room for “another problem we have to deal with”.

The incident comes as Israel is reportedly preparing to launch a ground invasion of Gaza, a move the United States has tried to delay.

Biden’s statements were made after Hamas announced that released two hostages she took when she launched her attack on Israel. Ceasefire talks in the armed conflict between Israel and Hamas will not be possible until all hostages held by the Palestinian Islamist movement are released, Joe Biden said Monday. “The hostages have to be released, then we can talk,” the US president said when asked if he would favor a “hostage-in-lieu-of-ceasefire” deal.
