THE Rio 2025 Book Biennial will have a specific program dedicated to pre-teens baptized “Short Circuit” .
The meetings will occur nThe Stage Apoteose Shell during the mornings of Saturdays and Sundays, bringing creators of digital content and known names, moving between stories told in books and screens, focusing on the public between 9 and 12 years.
Among the names already confirmed are: Iberê Thenório creator of the World Manual Channel; The writer, illustrator and screenwriter Janaina Tokitaka ; Youtuber Maidy Lacerda ; The writer and journalist Flávia Lins and Silva ; in addition to Gabriel Dearo and Manu Digilio authors of the literary series “Adventures of Mike”.
The curatorship of the “short circuit” is the responsibility of the journalist, educator and writer Carolina Sanches, who wants “Break expectations and show that literature can be as electrifying as any other form of entertainment. ”
“We developed a program where masters of the word and new narrative stars come together in a whirlwind of ideas that lights curiosity, empathy and creativity,” Sanches said in a statement. “Let’s prove that this generation reads yes – and that it seeks stories that inspire them, make them question and reinvent the future.”
According to the director of GL Events Exhibitions (one of the event’s director), Tatiana Zaccaro, the book Biennial plays an important role in the formation of new readers. “Many people have aroused interest in books just by visiting the event with their schools and/or family, so we have been looking at this audience for over 40 years, which renews each edition,” said Zaccaro.

The 2025 edition of the Book Biennial takes place in Rio de Janeiro, between 13 and 22 June . This year, the capital of Rio de Janeiro won the title of World Capital of the Book UNITED NATIONS ORGANIZATION FOR EDUCATION, SCIENCE AND CULTURE (UNESCO).
This year’s event will have a new format, with giant wheel, maze, escape room and other thematic attractions.
