Big Brother: why Federico and Vittorio must be left alone

We live in a world that loves to profess to be free even if it still desperately needs labels. It applies to relationships and, even more, to sexual inclinations which, unlike that concept of fluidity that fashion and art try to spread, for many people have yet to be clearly cataloged. For some time now, the Big Brother is hosting the friendship, esteem and progressive rapprochement of two men: Vittorio Menozzi and Federico Massaro. For some they are just two good snack companions like al Big Brother many have been seen – think of Ascanio Pacelli and Tommy Vee -, while for others they are two men in love with each other who do not have the courage to come out into the open and give a name to the relationship that binds them. Leaving aside a certain morbidity in sexual matters which, unfortunately, the Big Brother has hosted several times throughout its long history – you remember Michael Terlizzi, on whom at a certain point real fury was poured out live to push him to profess himself homosexual? -, the thing that is most worrying is a large group of fans dedicated to that social plague(s) which since the platforms have existed has been called ship.

For those who don't know, ships on social media are fans' hope of seeing two people together. It is a principle that applies to television series but, even more, to the star system and reality shows. Vittorio and Federico, for one, are called by some Victoricwith the hope that their feeling is something more than what the Big Brother shows on television every day. But what if it wasn't so? We don't know if Vittorio and Federico like each other (also) from a sexual point of view and, frankly, we don't care: what should count is the type of love that the two are slowly cultivating within the House. A love based on esteem, respect, trust and, above all, brotherhood. To the Big Brother Vittorio and Federico look for each other, support each other, approach and distance themselves as often happens within a given social context and they indulge in beautiful confidences. «How nice that you have arrived, my mother. You are a piece of home for me”, Vittorio said to Federico a few days ago, explaining that if it hadn't been for him the experience at Big Brother it would have been much harder to bear.

«Now we have made ourselves known, you have introduced yourself and we introduced ourselves as two guys who get along, who have things in common, who know how to be silly together, but in reality there is much more. And it's nice that this is also being passed on”, said Federico, reassuring Vittorio about the danger that he could be eliminated. Love, we know, has many forms, and for our part the most appropriate thing to do is not to judge it or label it. Beyond the ships and the coming out that some fans shout about as if they knew the consequences and the meaning, we think that Vittorio and Federico need to live their relationship in a serene way, without suffering pressure from the outside and without bowing to consensus of those who think they know everything about certain characters after having seen them for a few hours on TV. Reality and life lived are much more complexand this is why it would be appropriate for the ships to remain aside.
