A man has been killed today in an oxygen pipeline explosion in the industrial zone of Assaluyeh in southern Iran, according to the ISNA news agency.
The blast occurred at 09:20 local time (07:50 Greek time) and caused a fire, according to the agency, citing a local administration official, who said the fire had been extinguished.
The cause of the explosion is being investigated, according to Abdolnabi Youssef, governor of Assaluyeh province in Iran’s Bushehr province.
The Assaluyeh Zone, located on the Persian Gulf opposite South Pars (a large gas field that Iran shares with Qatar, known as the Northern Plot), is a huge petrochemical hub.
According to ISNA, the normal activities were resumed after the incident which also caused the injury of two people, who have serious burns.
