Big investor also has to be concerned about ESG, says director of Previc

The director of standards and technical guidance at Previc (National Superintendence of Complementary Pensions), José Chedeak, said, during the Expert XP 2022 panel, this Thursday (4) that large investors should also be concerned about ESG policies – approach which involves environmental, social and corporate governance.

“That you really see not only aspects related only to governance, but also in relation to social issues that, whether of diversity, are issues of you not investing in companies that have work analogous to slavery… issues of environmental concern, or when you do some kind of project etc. The big investor also has to have that concern,” he said.

Chedeak highlighted the importance of the need for clarity regarding information when making investments, comparing companies and products.

“Today we need to deal with, even if it is any real estate asset, it needs today to have information security. You can’t see clarity in the information, a clear, standardized information, so that you can compare one thing with the other”.

According to the director, by improving the information system, the transparency and standardization of information, it is possible to observe and compare whether a particular company has “a really sustainable concern, with one that does not. That way, you can better target an investment security, whatever it is,” he said.
