The Telegram team has released another major update to the popular messenger. Telegram version 7.5 brings long-awaited widgets, auto-deletion and some other useful innovations.

Many Android users have dreamed of the appearance of widgets for Telegram since the release of the messenger. And with the launch of iOS 14 last year, so are iPhone users with iPad. The Chats widget displays the most recent messages in the selected chats, while the Shortcuts widget displays the photos and usernames.

On Android, chats and messages in the widget are updated in real time and the widget can be resized. On iOS, the size of the widget is fixed, and the data is updated less often – this is due to system limitations of the platform.

Deleting messages for all participants in a Telegram conversation has been available for several years, and since 2013, secret chats also have a self-destruct timer. Now automatic deletion of messages for all participants is available in any chat. In this mode, messages disappear 24 hours or 7 days after being sent. Automatic deletion will affect only those messages that were sent after the timer was set – the earlier correspondence will remain in the chat history.

Also, users can now create additional invite links and limit for each of them the expiration date, the number of people who used it, or both. Each invitation link can also be received in the form of a QR code.

Another innovation is groups with an unlimited number of members. Until now, the maximum size of Telegram group chats was 200,000 participants. Now, when a group approaches this limit, it can be converted into a broadcast group – with an unlimited number of participants.

The developers have improved the import of chats from other messengers. The imported and original messages will now be merged and sorted according to the date they were originally sent. This works when importing history into chats with less than 1000 messages. Otherwise, new messages will continue to be imported at the end of the existing chat history.

Updates were made to the interface for sending complaints – you can leave additional comments in the complaint, and when submitting, it is suggested to mark specific messages. New animated emojis have also been added.
